Enemies of the Romans who fought battles for territorial control due to its strategic position near the Tiber river. During the Middle Ages, Trastevere became one of the main districts of Rome inhabited by farmers or merchants. There were also majestic Palaces inhabited by Nobles, Bishops and Cardinals. However, in contemporary times Trastevere was a poorly frequented area with thieves, murderers and a notorious criminal gang called "La Banda della Magliana" which had total control of the neighborhood in Rome. Today it is a meeting point for young people, where the past is mixed with the present, where people celebrate and walk peacefully, full of restaurants, clubs and pubs.
