It is the largest Roman arena built in 80 AD. A monumental symbol of the city of Rome that can hold between 50,000 and 85,000 spectators for magnificent shows, including gladiator fights to artistic theatre productions. In 1980 the Colosseum was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World following a competition organized by New Open World Corporation (NOWC). The restoration of the structure was taken over by the Della Valle family in 2011 and completed in 2016.
