Castel of Saint Angel

In the first century AD outside the Roman walls, beyond the Tiber, with the intention of being able to defend the city from possible barbarian invasions. During the Christian period it was turned into a Papal Castle, surrounded by towers and bastions, remaining intact to the present day with almost 2000 years of history. Did you know that in the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque eras, Popes secretly moved from the Vatican to the Castle via a secret passage in the shape of an aqueduct to escape from enemies, hide or to organize private parties?
